Tanoa Waterfront Hotel is a good venue to base yourself. It is 15 minutes walk /5minutes drive from Lautoka Hospital and is a good 4 star hotel. The current rate is 130$f (83$nz) for bed and breakfast and amenities are good with 2 pools to cool off and pleasant waterfront walk outside.
There are other options 15 minutes away ( the Anchourage, First Landing) at Vodu point ,and 45 minutes away at Denarau with all the 5 star hotels.

There are wonderful markets 10 minutes away in the township which are well worth visiting and purchasing some local cuisine,especially the fruit. Lautoka is probably not that safe to walk around after dark. You have to remember this is a 3rd world country and there is a lot of need.

The phone is excellent ( ph 8389645). Calls are very cheap ,including NZ so use it and recharge from many outlets . It is Vodafone Fiji. A charger comes with it and return it to Mili after your stay .

There is a list of surgey instructions in the main office which Mili will direct you to which runs through the basic gear avaliable and any idiosyncrasies. The Adec unit is brilliant and there is a recipro unit for endo kindly donated by Gunz. Please have allay with it .

The suction tends to turn on and off (briefly) but there is a mobile cart if any issues with suction. So far no issues with compressor . We have a separate one but have yet to plumb it in. The Lisa autoclave is great but takes about 30 minutes.
